Otaku to Fujoshi; Big-time Changes.

Honestly, this is my first time blogging and I don't know a thing about it. But I want to keep learning more about it from your side. I would surely appreciate the help. Currently, I'm mostly a fujoshi and am writing a book with a BL theme. The sudden hype for this genre began during the pandemic of 2020, but since 2018-19 we could see the growth of BLs and other LGBT+ content throughout the world. I don't know what caused this sudden hike in people's interest in BLs but I can surely tell you mine. Before I started being a full-time BL fangirl, I was a huge anime fan. The transition started in March 2020.

I cannot call myself an otaku 'cause I haven't watched 'the league players' of anime. I mean to say the ones that made it big worldwide. Of course, I've watched Dragon Ball Z, Naruto (honestly not a big fan of Boruto), Pokemon, and other classics. But except those, I mostly prefer tv series or series that are short and easy to complete in a 1-week span. Exception is Death Note, because, why not?

Just something before I tell you the story- after reading this you better not start judging me. So, it was March, my finals were finally over and I was running out of things to do. I was still exploring different genres in anime and that's when I saw the term 'ecchi' in my app where I used to watch most of the series. During that time, I didn't have the brain to google it out, and instead, I started scrolling down the content under it. That's when I came across- well- stuff, hehe. And that's how I came across series like KissXSis, Citrus, and eventually Super Lovers. Especially the last one. It was so warm and fluffy but I had to watch all of them on incognito, you'll know why when you watch them.

Afterward, I realized that the LGBT+ genre was something much to my liking and did some digging. I found out that Super Lovers actually had a season 2, which explains why the first season ended with such discontent. But then I read something on the search page saying there was supposed to be a season 3 airing on April 23rd, 2019. I don't know the particular reason as to why it didn't air but soon I found myself searching for more BL content.

And one day, one faithful day, I did a mistake that I thank myself for doing. The thing is, I clicked on a video by GMM TV. Mainly because I saw real-life BL for the first time, and was really curious about it. I mean, watching live, sweet moments? Count me in! But I soon dropped it as my school started, online of course, but the teachers gave us loads of work. If you are a fujoshi or a fudanshi, you'll be surprised to know which was the series I dropped. It was LBC, aka, Love By Chance. But then, after watching 2gether and Still 2gether, I came back to finish the unfinished business with LBC and I've watched countless no. of series since then. Heck I even completed all the series available on Viki.

Anyway, that's my story. What's yours?

In my next post I'll be posting my list of TOP 15 BL series which are a must watch.
